About us

Hotel Poutní dům is located on the border of the Orlické Mountains and Králický Sněžník, at an altitude of 760 m above sea level.

It is unique in its location on the Mountain of Our Lady in Králíky and historically has always been part of the pilgrimage area.

To this day, the hotel and the pilgrimage site are connected by a common owner - the Hradec Králové Bishopric.

However, we are not stuck in time and today we provide our guests with modern and comfortable facilities, including top-notch gastronomy in our restaurant.

The Pilgrimage House was built to provide accommodation and hospitality to pilgrims.

The house came under the care of the Redemptorists, who repaired and expanded it. It could accommodate up to 400 pilgrims in 38 rooms and two attic spaces.

During the war, refugees from Galicia found refuge here, and a “Polish school” was set up in the house.

The Pilgrimage House hosted spiritual retreats led by the Redemptorists, and later also began offering recreational stays.

As part of Operation K, monks from male monasteries were brought to the monastery and the Pilgrimage House, where they were held in captivity. They were forced to work for the state, mainly in agriculture. At the Pilgrimage House, for example, there was a workshop for basket weaving.

The operations of the centralizing monastery ceased. Since that time, the building has served as accommodation for the Czechoslovak State Farms and as stabling for livestock.

The building was abandoned and gradually fell into disrepair.

The Pilgrimage House underwent a comprehensive renovation financed by donations from German expatriates, made possible through the initiative of Franz Jenstchke.

The house was purchased from the Redemptorists by the Diocese of Hradec Králové.
Two years later, a comprehensive reconstruction of the building was initiated.

After the renovation, Hotel Poutní dům was opened to the public, and the attic chapel of St. Joseph was also solemnly blessed.
